OK, can anyone draw me, or take a picture of how the 2 piece driveshaft phasing should be? I replaced my carrier (center) bearing on my 93 4x4 ranger today. did i mark them? no, should i have? yes. ok, i lined up the yokes on the front shaft to match took it for a spin and it has vibrations. i look at the yoke going into the trans, and the yoke going into the rear end, and they are not exactly lined up. the only thing i could to to make these line up is to move the short driveshaft yoke so they do not line up. which in my mind, if this is causing the problem, wouldnt that be the same? i've seen where you want all of the yokes to line up, but they just cant. so i need some good pics or a good drawing or something. there is a decent pic in the tech articles, but i just cant see the rear joint well enough to see if i have it right.

In these matters I tie strings around both ends and the middle and let the ends hang down with a weight on them. I then can get in front or behind and line all the strings up in a straight line.

ok. i've been reading about how the 2 piece driveshaft is balanced as a single unit. one thing i may do is to disconnect the u joint and rotate the two halves 180 to see if that will help.

i flipped the 2 pieces of the driveshaft this morning. thats what it was! all smooth again. MARK THOSE PIECES!
