Didnt trump fire the white house pandemic response team last year?

Seems like they could have come in handy.

And when asked if he though the massive budget cuts to the CDC were still a good idea his answer was, "oh we can just hire those people back if we need to". But ummm by the time you need those people aren't you already basically screwed?

Kinda like saying hey, ill install smoke alarms and fire extinguishers in my house if it ever catches fire...

He closed that office down 2 years ago, and yeah, it would sure come in handy now.
I'm sure he is worried, but won't admit it. Due to his age and the ### of people he had dealt with/met in the past weeks, he is a prime candidate for catching it. Says he's not been tested, but he's a known/documented germaphobe, and I'm sure he and his family is tested daily. What would be really great is if he got infected by this "hoax" !!!
Me and wife are in the age bracket their talking about. We're in good health, but are being cautious. Wife is a RN, 40 years experience, so I'm well looked after. We did, however, just today, had to cancel 2 up-coming rv trips as they were including gatherings next month.
So, we're just going to take it easy and try to outlast this, and hopefully stay healthy.

This is officially a pandemic.

You can deny it if you want. Say people are over reacting. Blame the government. But it is, what it is. Keeping your distance, washing your hands, not touching your face, staying inside if you don't feel well, and sneezing in to your arm and not your hand to block the spread will help stop spreading this.

I got tested today! Had a regular checkup this morning and said I've been feeling worn out and nausea the past few days but pretty sure its from eating sushi for every meal for 3 days straight....

As soon as I said i didnt feel good out came the test swab. Got the results back in 6 hours with the all clear. At least they seem pretty on the ball with the test kits around here.

I got tested today! Had a regular checkup this morning and said I've been feeling worn out and nausea the past few days but pretty sure its from eating sushi for every meal for 3 days straight....

As soon as I said i didnt feel good out came the test swab. Got the results back in 6 hours with the all clear. At least they seem pretty on the ball with the test kits around here.

Do they swab your throat and nose? Just trying to verify how they conduct the test.

Probably that old pair of unwashed sweat pants you wear that's keeping you safe. It probably kills any virus/germ that comes anywhere near you.
But, on a serious note, I'm glad your OK.

Big q-tip down the throat till you almost puke then its sent over to the lab. My primary did the swab. She said if I had any true symptoms or a fever Id be sent to the hospital and have to wait in isolation while they did the test and got results. But she did mine strictly as a precaution and was confident i just had a tummy ache so she wasn't concerned. She did put on a full face mask and coat when she did the swab though...

My mom and dad are on a cruise this week... so theyre idiots... well its a paddleboat cruise on the Mississippi not a big ocean liner but still. Dumb...

Cruz was in contact with a person who is now known to be infected and symptomatic at CPAC. He self-quarantined and was tested proactively after that person came forward saying they were infected.

I'm not sure who the other senator you are referring to is, so I can't speak about that situation.

For the most part the quarantines are not to protect you, they are to protect people from you.

This has always been the point of quarantine. It comes from the ancient Greek word Quarantos which roughly translates "Stay away from me you gross pig".

Sounds just like a Strep Throat culture. not very pleasant, but only takes a few seconds and you are done.

Yep same exact type of test, just way more protocol on how the sample is taken and handled. My neices had it done about a week and a half ago. They were different tests because they didnt send the samples to a lab. It was just something like those little ph strips you use to test pool water. If it didnt change color you were good. I think they may have been bullcrap though. (They both got over what they had anyway, just a cold). Im thinking they may have rushed to just get any test kit available out there and then switched recently when they had more time to perfect them.

I went 4 places today, 4 more than normal. Everyone had gloves on. The doctors office all had gloves and gowns and auto purell despensers. They put plastic face sheilds on in the rooms. Then I went to the seafood distributor to get lobstahs, everyone working had gloves on, wouldnt touch money, (and this is a sanitary place dealing with raw food so they are clean anyway). Then hit the liquor store, same deal all employees with gloves, wouldnt touch cash. Finally the pet store and they even had the auto purell dispensor, covered the credit card thing so you couldnt hit the buttons or sign with your finger. Just hand the magic wand pay or cash only. Again didnt touch cash with their hands.

Kinda weird out there....

Im still really not worried. Yea i feel bad for the people it effects and anyone sick. But i dont personally see it as a risk to me. Im a tad worried about my dumbass parents taking a cruise right now at 75 years old.

I dunno if you remember the anthrax attacks after 9-11. My town was the epicenter of that. The postal sorting center all those letters went through was 3 miles from my home. At the time my mother was a nurse and my father was in the national guard. Both of them were dealing with the issue directly. I'm not complacent about this. Im just not worried. I actually still have a bundle of mail from 2001 in the un-opened vacuum sealed warning bags they delivered them in during that time. You basically got a pink bag that said open at your own risk... we didnt even get mail for a few weeks while they radiated the sorting center. The place was abandoned for a decade after they got the last of the mail out.

I think it's pretty much going to be restricted to the Republican side of the senate...I read that it may be possible to contract the virus by "kissing ass". If so, it's going to spread among them like a dry tinder fire.
