Coronavirus

I get a flu shot every year, sometimes I will get sick a week after, sometimes not.

This (and my fear of needles) is why I don't get a flu shot. I don't want to be injected with the flu virus just so I can end up with the flu.

You may still get the flu, but the odds of you getting it are reduced and if you do get it, you're likely to get a much less severe case.

Full disclosure - I'm pretty terrible about going out and getting it every year. But I do believe it's a good idea.

+1 ^^^
Not a big fan of needles either

But still do it, now I did read about a company that was developing an oral flu vaccine, back in 2018, with promising results but not sure if it ever made it to market, may still be in trials
But you could still get the symptoms of the flu, so I assume that part is non-negotiable, lol

There was a version of the flu vaccine that you basically snorted. I have no idea if it is still a think but you could always feel it running down the back of your sinuses. We got that for a few of the years I was in the reserves.

if there is poweder, razorblades and hookers involved, it is not a flu vaccine not matter what the people at the party say :)

this is what I have experienced. in the years that I have got the shots and got the flu, it was much more tolerable and I got over it quicker than immunizing myself the old fashioned way by getting the full version :)

Lol. Definitely a liquid, not powder.

Liquid cocaine, cool

My concern with the rush on the vaccine is that it might be like the anthrax vaccination we get. Some people had pretty bad reactions to it and some, permanently.

Everyone is different, which makes it tough to know how one’s body will respond. I’ve had the full series of six shots plus three boosters with no apparent side effects. One guy in our shop had shoulder problems that went away after the shots. A couple other people ended up getting medical retirements. Those are just cases I know about. I remember there being news reports in military circles about quite a few people having serious medical issues after getting the shots.

Now, with me being in the military, I’m sure I will not be given the choice on getting the shot. Just like the annual flu shot, the anthrax shots, and a lot of others I’ve gotten over the years. And it wouldn’t be the first time the military has been used as test subjects with an unproven item.

I think I'm just going to go with the "Apple a day keeps the doctor away" theory.
