Coronavirus

So... it appears that the recreational marijuana industry in Illinois had a boom month in April. $37 million in sales. Stoners with a stimulus check...

Also... the McCormick Center in Chicago was converted into a 3000 bed hospital in preparation of the hospitals being overwhelmed. Not sure of the exact number of people admitted into it but it was really small. They are in the process of dismantling the entire thing because there is not enough demand for it.

As an affect of the Corona virus my local car show, Motorama, this year has been canceled. While I expected this move it stinks that one of the only events I frequent is not going to be there this year. Mudders Day, on Mothers Day every year held in south west Vermont, was a forgone conclusion that it would be canceled but also the Agricultural fair has also been canceled so no Demolition derby in the beginning of August leaving all my summer car events to be watched as repeats on the internet and drool over pictures of years past.

Just another way this virus has disrupted normal life for the masses. This makes me wonder what changes will be enacted for the July 4th celebrations. Fireworks just don't have the same affect on TV as they do in person.

talked to someone closely associated with the ICU at the University of Michigan Medical center. that's where all the bad Covid cases in Detroit and southeast Michigan go.
the big concern now is having enough kidney dialysis machines. renal failure is occurring in the most serious of cases.
the age group is widening, a few people in their 30's are now dying. among all patients a common trait is still having another condition such as
asthma, copd, obesity.

with all the elective procedures having been cancelled the hospital is down to mostly only serving Covid.
that resulted in a revenue drop/costs of over $400 million.
yesterday 1,400 staff were laid off.

I went to a park today. It was super busy. I even saw groups of kids at soccer practice. Some were teens, but I saw a group of young kids being coached.

Just left me with so many questions.

Texas is smarter about it. There's your answer.

I think its time for another hands across america, or maybe a huge concert like woodstock to celebrate the official defeat of the coronavirus. High five and hug everyone!
