I am new to this but I do have a good question. I own a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT with the 4.0 engine and automatic transmission. I was thinking about changing out the cooling fan to an after market fan that uses no clutch. I will be using this pickup as my daily driver so I will not be doing any serious modifications but I do like the thought of a fan that will pull in more air through the radiatior at idle than the factory one will.

Welcome to TRS!

The clutch fan on your ranger is there for a purpose, to keep your engine at the optimum temperature for it to operate properly at. You do not want to over cool a fuel injected engine, this will make it run rich and burn more fuel.

If you are not overheating, and the clutch fan is working normally there is no reason whatsoever to remove it.
