this week I noticed a coolant smell after driving...popped the hood and didnt see anything dripping or steaming but the res was almost empty. the next day I looked into it a lil further and found coolant on top of my lower intake pooled a bit in the recesses around the injectors... I retourqed the intake bolts and a couple were loose...Im still having coolant show up on the intake, its never over heated or even had a puddle on the ground so I'm guessing its the lower intake gasket? I checked the heater and rad hose but they are dry and have no signs of leaks. any other thoughts on what to check before I tear it apart?

btw its the truck in my sig:icon_thumby:

Look into the intake manifold gaskets. My antifreeze was disappearing, but not any major puddles, etc. It wound up being a crack in the intake manifold gasket (they are plastic) and it would piss out of there very slowly. Where I have seen them leak most often (also where mine was) is drivers side, all the way up front.

just finished replacing the lower intake gasket...but I have an extra plug on the back of the engine that I cant seem to find where it goes!! anyone have a clue where it goes?

Looks like this to me. If it's on the driver side near the firewall....

You can text me at 801-842-9047 if it doesn't help

Sorry I didnt look close enough. that pic I posted was not right at all. I am doing the heads this week. I will keep an eye out while I am pulling it apart and let you know if i find it.

Im almost thinking its apart of the now nonexistent a/c system??. Other than that plug worrying me the truck runs better than ever...smooth idle and acceleration and no oil or coolant leaks :icon_thumby:
