I recently bought a 98 Ranger with 207k miles on it from a used car dealer. it has the 4.0L OHV V6. when I took it to a shop to have them check it out for me they said its leaking coolant from timing chain cover right under the power steering pump. I want to know how to fix myself. Do I need to remove crankshaft pulley to get timing chain cover off? does this mean that timing chain may not have been replaced? I dont have any service records for it. I have replaced water pumps on other vehicles before but not timing chain. :dunno:

Won't be from the timing chain cover
, side of the water pump ..maybe , intake manifold @ the water passage likely

sounds like lower intake gaskets to me too. fun job actually... its not too hard for moderate wrenchers. just take your time. will take about 6 hours unless youve done it before

Just curious why you don't think it could be the timing cover water passages leaking. I see it all the time, I've even resealed mine for that issue.
