A good friend of mine has a 2003 2.3L Ranger XL. She's getting a coolant leak underneath the top Plenum area, so she states, it's some sort of valve with a nipple coming off of it.

Would anyone know what part that may be, is it the (Hot Water Bypass Valve) and or does she even have one on this Ranger, this I'm not sure of, as she lives in PA and actually works on her truck, she's very old fashioned and doesn't have a cel phone so, it makes things really hard?

Anyhow, I need to know the part if possible, she said that there's a nipple that comes off of it, and she said it's mounted to the engine block under the top manifold plenum I believe. She said the nipple coming off the part had been compromised with a pinhole leak, and someone may of put some red thread lock or whatever on the compromised nipple a few years back.

I looked on Rock Auto to try and identify this part. Again I believe it could be a Hot Water Bypass Valve, but I don't see it on the Rock Auto page. So I could be wrong.

I'm thinking this may be the part? However I'm not sure, this is not her engine, just a random pic of a 2003 2.3l Ranger Engine.

the RA part is the thermostat housing/outlet.
the nipple in the pictures is directly above the Tstat and goes directly into the block.
, it is metal.
and as such is subject to corrosion.
do to where it is, and probably being pressed into the block it may be a difficult fix.

She actually was able to get a new hose on that nipple, which was dry rotted. That's pretty amazing for a 61 year old Gal. The only issue she had was after she fixed it she ran the rubber hose on the exhaust manifold and sprung a new leak. She's really fuming. Now she has to figure out how to run a new hose or conjoin the compromised hose. That gal is one tough cookie. She don't let up. 🤪😂🤪
