Cool find at Ollie's (discount/closeout chain)

You need a model railroad set in S scale for the trucks to match scale correctly. So, American Flyer. They're collectible. So, start saving up!
Stop playing with model trains and move up to full scale. You already have full size vehicles to go with them. It could potentially save you money.

Now there’s an idea… wonder if the local railroad would mind if I borrowed a few things to get started… :icon_rofl: :icon_welder:

Except I have no idea what scale those die cast cars are until I go to Tractor Supply or something next and remember to check, lol

Whine, whine, whine...

Wonder how these get distributed. Stopped in ast the other local Ollies today. They had some too, about 15 more of the same yellow and white two tone. No olther color combos in sight.

Ollie's distributes stock at random. Mine had mostly the black and white version and a couple of the yellow and white version. Probably had 6–7 total.

Haven't looked in other Ollie's stores a few miles out. Hey! I could do that today! Taking a break from working inside the house. :D

I did go to another Ollie's about 20 miles away. It had some of the Johnny Lightning cars, but no Rangers.

Maybe, but it doesn't really feel random when 20+ examples at 2 stores are all the same. If some variety of coloration exists and they were distributed at random, I would expect to see some mixture in that sample. I know that the one near work had 6 of the yellow and white. The one in the next town over had atleast 15 all in yellow and white. Not suggesting that Ollies is sorting and only sending that color to these two stores, but if there should be some variety to the coloration then it is happening somewhere.

Isn't Ollies an "overstock" store? Where they take unsold items from other places and sale thema at a discount? They probably don't spend a lot of time and effort to make sure each store has the same amount of color variations between the stores for any item, much less "Kids Toys". They just have "X" amount of boxes and 1/2 of "X" goes here, the other 1/2 goes there. Completely Random and coincidental.

OR

Johnny Lightning only made two color variations this year and that's all you get. ANY other colors could be from previous production runs.

That is my impression. They are an overstock store. Small and Big Lots does the same thing.

I have 2 Ollie's within about 30 miles (in different directions) and the stock is only vaguely similar between the 2. Kinda like a Goodwill except all new stuff.
