Console Question

I just bought some Mustang seats on Ranger tracks to replace the 60/40 seats in my 2000 Ranger 2WD XLT w/5 speed. I would like to put a nice console/armrest in it to complete the package but I'm confused as to what will fit. I've been to the local pick-n-pay and spent hours looking at Explorers, minivans, Topaz, etc. to find something I liked but just ended up getting more confused. I've been on Craigslist and fleabay and seen lots of nice (and expensive) consoles but don't know if they'll fit. I know there are brackets involved with the Explorer consoles and that the Ranger floor has holes in it to mount them. I also know the holes will have to be tapped to mount the brackets and that there are short consoles and full length consoles. I'm no stranger to fabrication but it sure would be nice to get something I could just bolt in for once. If somebody with a 2000 or so who has done this would chime in I'd sure appreciate it.

I threw an Explorer console in my 87. I left the console sit loose on the floor where I wanted it, fully assembled, until it left marks in the carpet then threw the brackets down with some big self-tappers. No problems so far, been there for 2.5 years or so.
