Does anyone know if the connecting rod bolts are torque-to-yield?
I wanna do a gasket overhaul on a 93 4.0L and am temped on re-ringing the engine while its out. The haynes manual that I have says that the connecting rod bolts are torque-to-yield, but it doesn't say anything about the main bearing bolts.
Can anyone shed some light on this? and maybe know where I can buy new ones if need be.
Thanks

I do not find in my Haynes where rod bolts are tty. They normally aren't, nor the crank bolts. Heads yes. I get them from my local dealer.:)shady

I was looking in an explorer book, cuz thats what the engine is coming out of. Thats the one that said they were tty.
I just looked in my ranger books and it doesn't say anything about it.
I think it might just be the 4.0L SOHC that has tty con rod bolts.
Thanks
