connecting rod bolts

Rebuilding a short block for my 89 II and busted a connecting rod bolt --yea--and it's only supposed to be torgued to 24 pounds--just kept turning. Where do I get one or should I replace them all. Summit racing doesn't carry any for bronco II so where or what SHOULD I GET????
P.S. The one I broke is the original ford stepped T-bolt. Also is my manual correct at 24lbs--it doesn,t seem tight enough??

Yikes. Is this an engine you are building for a quick swap or do you have the original engine out and apart? I don't think I have any studs or rods right now, but I might be able to get one if you have some time.


Your book does appear to list the correct torque spec. The Ford shop manual lists the connecting rod nut torque as 19-24 ft-lbs.

Local engine rebuilder/machine shop will have one.

Yes, the torque is correct, the cap is just holding the bearing in place, there is no real pressure on it, just the oil pressure.
