Computers..............

All the new things that were added to Vista were stolen from OSX.

Microsoft stealing from mac lol. mac has stolen so many technologies over the years (apple TV for one). But thats beside the point, even if the things they "stole" were added to windows, Microsoft's OS is still a hell of alot easier to get anything beyond simplistic tasks done. And trust me I am not a huge Vista fan either (though I do love my XP :D)

I've had it for a couple of days, as has one of the other guys in the IT department at my office. Both of us are very happy with it so far, which is emphatically something we could NEVER say about Vista (which has improved, but still has its issues). Performance is on par with XP even on older hardware, and a lot of the new interface changes seem pretty intuitive once you get used to them.
That is good to know. I plan on getting a second hard drive for my current PC and installing W7 on it. I hope W7 is good. I really like XP, but I am ready for an upgrade that isn't Vista.

Just because they came out with similar technologies around the same time doesn't mean it was stolen. Virtually every major tech company invested resources into developing networked media devices. Apple did not steal the AppleTV from anybody. I've been a Windows/Linux user for years, but that doesn't mean I have to become blind to Apple doing a lot of things right too (and Microsoft doing a lot of things wrong).

what are you running it on?

i was VERY curious about it last night. thinking about putting it on my old XP machine, but i dont think it has the RAM

It has to have 1GB of RAM minimum to run it.

It's on a budget Compaq laptop I picked up about 18 months ago for $450, an Athlon 64 X2 1.7ghz, 2GB of RAM. However, I did also install it on a virtual machine as a test with only 768mB allocated and it seemed to do fine.

My eight year old Compaq ME needs replacing. I am considering a MAC. Pros?? Cons????? The only thing I do with a computer is entertainment, such as this forum, and my personal banking, e-mail, etc.:)shady

I have been using Mac's since 1984. I would never use anything else.
