I was wondering if your power supply is acting up would it slow you puter down?
I am running a homebuilt with XP
AMD Athlon 1300

The other day i was making some copies with my burner. Normally it only takes
about 30 mins. This time it took over 1 1/2 hours.
I only have a 300watt PS.

Have you guys got any suggestions on good a PS?
Thanks for any info, Brian

Probably not your power supply. The 12V, and 5V voltages from the power supply feed DC to DC regulators (normally sync-buck) on the mother board, that generate the voltages needed for CPU, etc. . You have probably picked
up a virus, or spyware that's slowing it down.

Sometimes a P/S can do what you descirbed. But I would do the virus check first.

As is, I run a 600watt P/S. Normally use only 200watts (checking fourms and listening to music, plus an extra 50W for LCD monitor)

Thanks for the info. I'll have to get on it this weekend to see what is causing it.
