Computer on 83 Ranger?

I installed a manual choke kit, disconnected the fuel sensor on the carburator and adjusted the air mixture screw. My ranger runs good now. My next step when I get time is to completely get rid of the MCU and the cat.

One other thing, when I bought this Ranger, I didn't realize how much it was unloved by it's former owner. It has been in my shop for a week now. All new u joints, radius mounts and bushings, TIB pivot bushings, they were completely gone, rebuilt the rear brakes, the list goes on and on. Previous owner, by some miricle, had it inspected and was driving it on the road! I am giving the trucks mechanical components all the TLC in needs, just hope the body don't fall off in the process.

Do not disconnect those vacuum lines. Im not sure about the 2.3 but my 2.8 was stolen and the guy disconnected all the vac lines and the thing barely moves under its own power now (couldnt even do a 2 low burn out on wet moss)

im having the same issue with my 2.3 carb with vacuum advanced dist. What vacuum line does this it has a BRAND NEW MOTOR so frustrated:sad:
