I am having trouble understanding what you're talking about.

The 60 pin connector for the PCM is used in a lot of applications. The '90 Cali. emissions PCM hooked right into my '88, no problem.

All you need to do is go to a junk yard and get a PCM for an '86 that matches your transmission. Cardone sells refurb PCMs as well, there's tons of places you can locate one.

Are you sure what you think is the computer is the computer? It's located under the passenger side kick panel.

Not every single pin is used on the harness, but did some of the pins somehow break off into the connector?

I would go to www.fordfuelinjection.com and look at the diagrammes there of the 60 pin plug on the computer. It also has a chart telling what the pins are for and what kind of readings you should have when tested with a meter.
