Compressor cycles on/off/on/off???

Whenever i switch on my a/c i can hear the compressor click on then back off then back on and back off...it does not blow cold at all while it cycles like that either.. Any ideas what my issue is, probably a freon leak anyone know of common a/c components that leak on a 2000 Ranger?

A R134A leak is common when there is a leaky o-ring.

I'd take it somewhere and have them check the system for leaks. They are going to have to evacuate the system to repair the O-Ring, pull a vacuum on the system and refill it with the correct weight of refrigerant.

You need a machine to do all this.

The other possibility is a bad pressure switch. But that's less likely.

My did the same thing when the r134 is low not empty because if the r134 is empty or really low the compressor will not come on !!! So all you have to do is refill it and you will be set but i would check for leaks though like Ranger44 said !!!
