Took the topper off of my truck today. Didn't need it, and wanted the money from it. Took longer than expected because some bolts broke off and it was hard to get to them.. but it's off finally! The pictures are deceiving.. it's pretty dirty lol...

However the holes in my bedliner have always been here (the bedliner rolls over the edges of the bed, so the installers had to cut holes in the bedliner to install the topper...

What can I do to prevent water from coming in? Eventually when I have the funds, I will spray in or roll in a bed liner.. but for now is there a temporary fix?

Rubber grommets that hole size? A good parts store should have them.

That is a really nice-looking first generation truck you got there.

Not that big! LOL

We have a ton of grommets but you are talking PCV size. Maybe a hardware store in the plumbing section.

The big grommets are used as "body plugs", like in floor pans and door jambs. Oval is more common, but round ones are used too.

Duct Tape :icon_twisted:

Just kidding, I'd go with the grommets.

i'll check for grommets.. but they are a generally irregular... especially one of them on the passenger side.. it's probably the size of two of those.

thanks for the comments.. it was owned only by my grandpa before me, and besides my mom disagreeing, i want to keep it to keep memories of him. so if i have to put money into it, i have to put money into it.

got alot of plans for it...

If you still have it in 20 years, it will probably be your favorite vehicle, and you'll be thanking yourself for keeping it. Good luck with it.

that's what i want... seriously.

it will be such a good memory and feeling of accomplishment knowing i had the truck for 20 years.. and even more so, knowing that i will always remember my grandpa through it.

Wow.. don't see too many of those that clean.

With bedlining the bed, I'd look into bedlining the underside a bit as well, even things like the frame.

Is there actually any bad spots on it?

My dad sold the 1963 Buick Skylark my Grandfather owned. Only had 18,000 miles on it. I haven't ever really forgiven him for it.

everybody keeps saying that, and i guess idk.. i didn't know it any other way, so it's weird that people think it's such a nice truck lol... it has lived in nebraska it's entire life, so it's been open to the elements pretty bad.

i've got simple green cleaning the underside (leaked oil so bad it's all over everything) and then spraying with 3m underbody coating on my list.

had a few rust bubbles and cab corners fixed not too long ago. other than that, no real rust problem.

my truck has roughly 86k miles on it.

I call PhotoShop!

I live in Michigan. These trucks rarely have floors, at least 1 or 2 cab mounts have completely dissapeared, rust and holes everywhere else. They simply don't exist like that where I'm from.

ya i guess we don't have as much problems in nebraska as some places... but we are really humid, and use salt and sand on our roads cuz we get a ton of snow...

oh, and i will change my profile picture just to please you slim...

picked up some rubber pieces today from hardware store... they are 1.5" pipe stoppers.. and they don't fit exactly, so i'm gonna try to clean up the outside and inside of the hole... and then use some adhesive/sealer stuff along with the stoppers.

hopefully it works.

except, now i still don't know what i'm going to do for the one of them.. it's gigantically bigger.

Sounds like it was drilled twice. If that hole is oval, go to junkyard and get an oval body plug. In your truck, look on the floor behind the seat on the driver's side; you'll see a black plastic oval body plug. Score one of those, then just trim the hole to fit with a razor knife or aviation snips.
