yea, i cant wait to get a bumper on the truck and mount that winch..

i break a ton of crap, and wish i went d60 years ago.. i expect too much out of the 35 i guess.

updated the first page... so 12/04-5/08 is currently on page 1.. and 10/08-present is on page 2..

need to fill in summer 08, and its up to date!

I have to wonder what you do to break all those shafts. I mite be eating my words once I weld my front carrier next week. Maybe I should start collecting spare shafts and buying stock in Dana Spicer now..

lol ya, almost every shaft (excluding two), have been broken in my back yard, literally. which is good (because im home and not on a trail..) but bad because im barely wheeling... i don't have trails, but i have a bunch of assorted mini obstacles...

i didn't start breaking shafts till the lock-right install.. before that i did bust the spiders though..

many people have great success/longevity with d35s.. i just expect too much out of mine apparently.

yea, anyone one that spends time with any axle, can throw a shaft in on the side of the trail in the time it takes the next person or two in line to get up the obstacle.. unfortunately i have a lot of time into fixing my 35, so its second nature, like you said.

I STAND on the throttle and HOLD the shifter in gear. I have beat mine without mercy on 5 or 6 trail rides so far with open gears, 456s and 33s.

If you "expect" to much out of yours and it keeps failing I am screwed. Unless the lock-right is to blame for "grabbing" when it engages and causing drive line shock, causing something to fail if the tire does not spin. I have personally seen a stock short bed standard cab 4cyl ranger with a d28 and 7.5 both welded on 33s get beat on badly without failure. I have to wonder what causes you to have so many failures. I have seen many people including myself do terrible things without failure. I know welding the front will kill my turning radius but if my other option is a 300 dollar locker that may eat drive line parts I would rather have a crappy turning radius.

i have never once broken on rocks.. (since the spider gears, that was a hop-break situation)

the only breaks i have ever had (since), have been in mud and snow... aka bullshit.

lockers f/r, 4.56 gears, 4.0 v6, slipping auto...ext cab

Damn dude, WTF? Just get the friggin 60 already!

i have broken 3 shafts on one obstacle before. makes for a long day

locked d35, 300 hp=bad idea.

the reason i use the brake mod. replacing spiders all the time sucks though, you should have seen the looks on the guys face when i changed my spiders without taking the tires off one time....thats the nice thing about the duff arms. pull the pivot bolt and shock bolt/pinch bolt...unbolt the piglets and weasel it out. normally i take off the drivers side wheel and caliper too....but did it that way because they had owned fords before and said it was impossible...

impossible is used too often for no reason...
