Compatible donor trannys for a 94 4.0 ranger

I did not pay them to do it, a friend helped me and it did nothing. I do not plan on returning to that place. I do not have schematics however I do know how to check voltage and continuity and ohms with my meter, I just don't know where and what wires to check. Some pointers would be kick a** thanks!
