Compatabilty of 3" flanges on transfer case and 8.8 axle for 1 piece DS swap

l posted this in another section, but it isnt getting much traffic... since my other driveshaft questions were answered here, i figured l would repost it here...

AS l am swapping in my new aluminum one pirce driveshaft, my smaller 2.5 yoke breaks on me. So l am headed to the junkyard Monday but had a question...

Is the output flange on the 8.8 axle (the 3" one) interchangeable with the flange on the BW1354 electric transfer case? Can l take the flange from a junkyrad 8.8 that is 3", remove the 2.5 flange from my transfer case, then bolt the 3" flange from the 8.8 in its location?

Or does the flange on the transfer case have to be from a transfer case?

im pretty sure the answer is no. Like 98% sure, im pretty sure the 8.8 uses a diff spline count then the output of the T case. you can get the T case flange for a 2001 ranger or 01 explorer from the junkyard or the dealership and it will be 3''

From what l have read Rangers from 2000 on have the 3" flange with the right spline count...

Is that the same for explorers as well? l know l need the 3" flange, but l want to make sure l am looking at the right vehicles to avoid buying a 3" flange with the wrong spline count. They all used the electric shift bw1354 right?
