It seems like there are a lot of common problems with early morning starts, rough idle etc.. I've started wondering if they could be related to the use of ethanol added to the gasoline. At present, most pumps have at least 10% ethanol and some 15%. Ethanol is made from cellulose. Could it be the cellulos is causing the sensors, injectors and other things to clog up?

I have read where ethanol should not be used in older engines. Hopefully if the government stops the subsidy for producing ethanol it will go away. Does anyone know of an oil company that doesn't add ethanol to their fuel? Would adding injector cleaner to every 2nd or 3rd tank lessen the chance of clogs and gum ups?

I was having problems with morning starts. never really fiqured out what it was. But it finally died a couple days ago and my pickup is bad. Hopefully it will take care of that issue. I have a couple places that has non ethanol gas, but its alittle more.

Ethanol doesn't contain cellulose....it actually cleans things, not clog them up,except for the fuel filter when the ethanol cleans the junk out of the fuel system.

No way! That couldn't be further from the truth. I find complaints about ethanol everywhere on the web and from friends, neighbors, family, myself, etc. It really wreaks havoc on older carbureted vehicles/lawn equipment/boats. It clogs those jets right up and makes floats stick. I go out of my way to get non-ethanol gas for my yard equipment, but it's something like 60 cents more a gallon around here so I can't justify putting it in my vehicles (I drive way too much).

I hope I have the same good luck. Mine starts right up at high idle but as soon as I put it in rev or Dr it tries to stall. Sometimes it will die but will start right back up. As soon as the temp warms up a bit it runs fine. This continues until I let it sit for several hours and cools down. I changed everything including the engine coolant sensor thinking that would do the trick because it seemed temp related. Could be I got a bad one from the parts store. I'll keep driving for a while longer to see if it will straighten itself out like yours did.

Same here. I've had issues where if I start the truck after running, it will start and stumble for about 30 seconds. after that, it clears up and it's good to go.

It's been driving me crazy and it's very embarrassing too.

does contain celluse ,it's made from celluse ,alcohol draws water/miosture which deadens the gas

It might be the injectors. They have a seal inside and fuel can drip into the cylinders while the vehicle is off (a bit of fuel pressure still remains in the fuel rail once it's tuned off). Unfortunately cleaning them doesn't fix this problem.

You all need to do a search on "ethanol cellulose" The ethanol used now is largely made using corn sugars and starch....not cellulose. They are working on making ethanol from cellulose and a few plants have been funded. Even so it's a chemical process making ethanol from cellulose, the fibrous, inedible parts of plants or wood. The process changes the structure from cellulose into ethanol. It does not contain cellulose, cellulose is a solid, ethanol is a liquid.
