And if you find a Ranger with what looks like a D-35 front axle but has a 3.0L motor, 99 times out of 100 it's a D-28/35 hybrid. Looks just like a D-35 - 10 bolts holding the diff, thick axle shafts, etc. Except when you pull a shaft you find that it's been necked down to a D-28 inside the diff. And the guts of the diff are D-28 parts.
