Just wondering if anybody has done this. How to go about putting a floor shifter in a Ranger automatic with column shift? A buddy of mine asked me if he can do this with his 2000 Ranger 3.0. lifted 2wd (BL and suspension lift) He wants to give it a new look like the newer F150's. I do like this idea. Anybody know if it can be done and would it be worth it??

Thanks!!!

I don't see why not. Hurst shifter and mod the cable? Or find a floor mount from a junkyard and mod it.

What kind of seats do you have.
Tall compared to a car with floor shifter.

The ranger would need an extra tall shift lever, right?
Take a look at a manual trans shifter to see what I'm talking about.

my bronco II has a pretty normal length floor shifter.

My buddies Ranger has the 60/40 seats. He wants to put some racing buckets in later on. I might do the same. I am keeping my Ranger since it still looks great and only has 72,000 miles on it. I might just want to do this down the road. I will help him with the project and then he can help me with mine!!!

I don't really see any reason why you shouldn't do it. There might be some fabrication involved but I think it would be a cool modification.

wouldnt say a stock floor shift for an automatic b2 with an a4ld all bolt right up on my a4ld explorer?

id like to do it, i hate column shift

Hmm, some good ideas, guys!!! I will help my buddy look into this. The only thing I don't understand is...we will have to remove the column shifter and I don't think that will look to bad, right?? Most people won't notice that I hope....lol

I think it would be easy to make look the column look normal. Remove the column shift bits and replace the two column covers with ones from a manual transmission model.

Hmmm, I did not think about that...great idea, Bro. Thanks!!!

You could get a console out of an escape or or exploder that has a floor shifter and do some modifications to it to make it work... I would be a pretty sweet Mod to do... Keep us updated....

Oh and to get rid of the column mount get a steering column from a manual trans
