Changed the oil on my '93 super today. 2.3 L. Lima. Drove it around for a bit and parked it on the drive withe the motor idling. Noticed what seems to be a valve tick. Hadn't noticed it previously. Power seems fine and idle is normal. If indeed, it's a collapsed lifter wouldn't there be a change in idle and power output? Would driving in this condition on the short term cause any damage - burnt valve, etc? Would a compression test show a loss of compression in the affected cylinder?

What in the way of tools are required for changing out the lifters beyond normal sockets, wrenches, etc? Any and all input is greatly appreciated?

swapping the lash adjusters is pretty easy, after you get the throttle body and valve cover off all you need is a couple pry bars or long beefy screwdrivers to compress the valve springs far enough to pull the followers out then pull the lash adjuster out with a pair of pliers or your fingers...
