Coleman Liquid Fuel

Super cool guy on the Coleman forum hooked me up with the correct fuel tank for my 443 stove. Now I really have way too much money into it but I had to have the right pieces. And it's running on white gas as God intended!!!

Anyone familiar with J.C. Higgins camp stove? This is on Facebook marketplace near me for $50.

"J.C. Higgins was an American brand of sporting goods, primarily firearms, bicycles, and appliances. The brand was owned by Sears, Roebuck and Co. and was popular from the early 20th century to the mid-1960s. J.C. Higgins products were known for their quality and affordability. The brand was eventually phased out by Sears in the 1960s, but many J.C. Higgins products remain popular among collectors today"

@85_Ranger4x4 this is the thread I meant to post this in. LOL.

I've watched you guys use these types of stoves, but I don't know anything about them. I wouldn't know what to look for if I bought one.

We need a Guide to Coleman Stoves. Sometimes I wish I had a 1st Gen and a vintage camping setup with Coleman gear.

Also found someone selling a 413 and 425.

My 413 is my favorite stove.

The 425 is the most common but gets crowded quickly.

That JC Higgins setup is easily worth $50.. to collectors. Those are older models.

I have a 413 and a 425. Those are the ones I use most often. We can get you started on using and maintaining them.

That JC Higgins stove was made by American Gas Machine Co I believe, not Coleman. They made Thermos stoves and some other brands. I believe that combo there would be very collectible! The stove by itself would not be, to me anyway, just have never cared for AGM/Thermos stuff. I'd love to have that lantern though (that looks to be made by Coleman.) Sears sold a lot of different stuff, some was made by Coleman and was similar to their own models but with a few minor changes.

413 stoves are also my favorite - D, E & F variants in particular. G and later got kind of "cheap" feeling but they work great and are often very inexpensive. Free to about $30 for a nice one is what I think they are worth.

I usually use a 4M stove, similar in size to a 425 but a bit older, a bit clunkier, but well made. It was a Canadian market stove. It doesn't take up a lot of room in my Explorer but it does get cramped for cooking sometimes so I carry a single burner stove as well - that was I can make eggs, bacon, and coffee all at the same time and not take up a ton of cargo space.
