Coleman Liquid Fuel

@85_Ranger4x4 needs this for his garage

I didn't know Coleman made these. I had a similar one that came out of an ancient camper that had a blower, I think Modine made that one... they are pretty cool, basically fuel just drips down into a bowl where the fire is and it burns on its way through the upper chamber. I wanted to use mine to heat my shed but it would run for about 10 minutes and then smoke out the building - think it had a crack in the fire box or something.

I've seen home made ones of those. Made of old water heaters. I know a guy who build one and installed it in his fireplace to heat his living room.

This style seems to be a lot more reliable then the commercial ones. Just burn whatever you pour in there.

My faithful 6/84 CL2 failed me over the weekend.

Normally an instant/strong starter it kinda half heartedly got running. Never got up to speed, I had to keep pumping it.

I have never done a thing to it besides halfway dust it and throw fuel and mantles at it, it has been my main one for the grille and camping last spring..

So I figures it was losing pressure. Tonight I pulled the check valve out of it, it looked fine so I gave it a break cleaner bath and tried it again. No difference.

I got to wondering.

Sure enough it was out of gas.

;brownbag;

Actually having fuel now it fires right off with a dramatic vengeance like it always has.

So no my baby is ready to to Kansas.

Funny how an item that requires fuel doesn't work when it doesn't have fuel....

That's how they get you, you gotta keep buying their fuel. :icon_idea:

Aren't they supposed to be able to work on automotive gasoline as well? I thought I saw something about one being able to do that and it being safe to do.

The dual fuel ones can, pump gas still reduces the lifespan of the generator and doesn't store as well.

Just like cars… you can get electric ones too.

:ban:

If anyone wants to overpay for a case... and get a free lantern.

Mine is out for delivery already, shipped from Wichita...

I got one of those a few years ago. Only lantern I have, but I think it's great.

Very bright.

I have one of those lanterns too and am very happy with it. Actually all of the dual fuel stuff I have has been very good - easy to light is my favorite part. My little single burner dual fuel stove lights just about as easy as propane.

Actually comes with the red $10 funnel.

My case was made 6/22, lantern 8/22. Lantern has the old style metal pump with the c clip.

I have my 295 and 533(?) stove, both are dual fuel and are great runners.

Which fuel do you use most often? Do they get similar "mileage" ?

Binging the Jurassic Park series befire I finally watch the newest one, was kinda surprised to spy a old 220 in the high hide. Lighting is terrible but it looks all green, both times when they turn it down it acts right too... Probably not electric. Apparently the girl thought to grab it so the could light their big canvas tent later.
