It's been highs in the teens/single digits below and lows in the -20s for the last week or so. Looks like another week or so at least. What does my Ranger decide to do? Dump all its freshly changed oil on the drive home from work! I noticed low oil pressure and pulled over, 4 miles from home. Nothing on dipstick, added the 1/2 gallon I had in the truck and limped it the rest of the way home. Oil all over the back and driver side of the engine, trans, frame, etc. Weird yellow foamy stuff coming out of where the breather hose connects to the oil fill cap. I have no heated shop so this problem will probably wait until it warms up to investigate. Just this morning I was bragging about how reliable it was, always started in the coldest weather, would trust it driving CC, etc. I think it's jealous of the F250 we bought recently and it's punishing me.

It was in the 60’s today. Should have been a perfect day to fix that.

:icon_rofl:

I feel your pain bilbo... we've be under the artic chill for several days now. Looks like it will be another week before it loosens it's grips.

I need to put a battery in my wife's car before 11am tomorrow. I have a three car garage... and I think I can get it in the garage. I have to much stuff.

I sure am glad I live in a place that doesn't have a lot of really cold days. Today's high and low was 64° /40°. I do remember having to deal with Eastern Weather, a long time ago. Good luck with your truck.

Went to plug in the F250 so I could use it tomorrow and the block heater plug snapped off when I grabbed it. FML.

Its those darn anti-global warming people, if they have their way we will KEEP have cold days and snow for the next 100+ years up here

Looks like we were finally going to catch a break with warmer temps and NOOOO, anti-warmers are all over it

Check the PCV valve on the Ranger, it may have moisture in it that froze and caused a pressure build up.

That’s a possibility I will have to check out. So basically if it freezes, blow by pushes oil through the seals right? When I got home I pulled the crankcase vent line off and didn’t feel much air there. None through the fill hole in the valve cover either. I just hope I caught it early enough to not do terrible damage to the engine.

If the photo is to be believed, they missed one critical area with the heating elements.

Can you tell where the oil came from?

Im guessing the engine.

From dinosaur poop......

Time to move south for the winter.

How far south? This cold front extends all the way through Texas into Mexico. Good luck with that. We are forecasted to have -15 ambient late Monday/Tuesday. That has never happened in Oklahoma, it'll be a new record. Also expecting up to 15 inches of snow along with that. That's a huge amount of snow for us. Last time that happened was Christmas 2009.
