cold start

Hello everyone,

I noticed when it's very cold (last night we -10 ° for some of you this is nothing).

impossible morning as the truck starts.

I am forced to unplug the cable from the batery... and then back after 10 minutes i plug the cable and the truck starts

hold on, so you went to start the truck when it was damn cold, you turn the key, nothing happens, you disconnect the battery from the truck, for 10 minutes, reconnect, try again, and it works no problem?

what did it do when you tried the first time, did it turn over but not catch, did it click, did the dash lights come on?

I put the key in the ignition. I try the engine not start , everything else light function. autoradio. klaxon.juste engine does not start

ok, when you turned the key, did it turn over? or was it like you weren't turning the ignition at all?

Yes the engine turns but will not start

lightly clean the battery terminals and clamps with sandpaper and get the clamps good and tite. If all you tuoched was the trminals then that was the problem. let us know either way.

I think that's not it. everything is clean.
The more bizarre, I turned on the ignition, the engine turns but will not start.
I waited 5 minutes.

Not sure what year you have and how similar your truck's wiring is, but my '88 2.9L Ranger had a single small gauge wire ground connector off the battery. Bad connection with that ground wire can cause the engine to turn over, but not start.

That was probably the ground for the computer, it goes directly to the battery.

When your truck wont start, is it because it is lacking Fuel or Spark?

That would help tremendously. I have had this issue with my Ranger, the fuel pump will sometimes not turn on when its cold, have to turn the key on and off a few times.

my brother took the truck and when he put a little gasoline.
