cold air intake trouble

the other day i shut my hood with some tools under it and crushed my airbox. its an 04 with a 3.0L. i made a homemade cold air intake but my maf sensor doesnt like it. i need it to read normal to pass my inspection this month. any suggestions on how to make it compatable or trick the computer

if the check engine light isn't on you should pass NYS inspection. Your best bet is a pick n pull yard.

You're most likely running too lean. My friend did a custom intake on his 2010 explorer 4.0 and he had the same problem. We cut a piece of smaller diameter tubing and put it before the MAF and it runs just fine with no CEL. You can do that or if you have the tools flair out a piece of smaller dia tubing and put it where the filter meets the intake. looks alot cleaner and does the same thing, but you dont have to cut your intake.
