Coils to big for bottom coil buckets...?

well im starting to think that i may just weld some tabs around the custom coil buckets the previous owner made to give some reassurance that spring wont come out and then he had a piece of half inch steel he used to hold the spring to the bucket...should work i believe.

i was just out in my barn looking at the coil buckets the previous owner made..ive come to the conclusion that they are NO good..im gonna go to the junkyard tomarrow morning to get a pair of solid axle f 150 buckets or bronco to use..does anyone know how much they will need to be spaced in order to clear the knuckle? and so i use the bell shaped piece from the d35 inderneath or disregard the entire d35 bucket assembly?

today i pulled some lower buckets from an late 70's straight axle ford...and the coils still dont fit 100% in the bucket! i was looking at my buddies 79' f150 and my springs are a fatter spring than his..the springs just BARELy dont sit flush in the buckets..i am thinking that since these r skyjackers springs they r thicker steel so i am going to try and grind the inner bucket wall some to get them to seat...sound good?
