ive decided to steer away from going with the coil/shock setup and get some 14 or 16inch foa 2.0 coilovers . using their calculator and estimating the corner sprung weight of 950lbs i came up with about 250 over 175. does that sound about right? i know it all varies with the fulcrum point and what degree the coilover is mounted at, but am i even in the ballpark with those numbers? and if anyone cold tell me what the corner sprung weight of a 97 ext cab 4.0 5spd 4x4 is that would be awesome. thanks for any input.

thats sounds close to what i would think. but i have no first hand experience.

id like to know too. :icon_confused:

good luck with the coilovers dude. i was toying with that idea as well cause i couldnt find a spring with a light enough rate for the 2500lb. front end on my ranger. ended up getting custom coils made up with a 140lb. rate. now i can stuff my 38 in. tsl's and the cab wont list over. came out to 550 bucks for the springs. bout 1000 dollars cheaper than a set of good coilovers. if i had lots of cash i would def. do it though

yea i was all set to go with a coil/shock, but i thought about it, and figured im going to want to go with coilovers down the road anyways, then get some 1tons and 4 link front/rear. so why not start it all now. im runnin fw d44 and 9inch and i believe mounting the coilovers would be even easier than coil/spring with moving the buckets out and whatnot. the money is an issue for me, but foa does have one hell of a deal on their shocks. basically for a little less than 1100 i can have 14 or 16inch remote reservoir c/o's with springs in the front(billet retainer, and 90 degree swivel for the reservoir) and 14 or 16inch 2.0 shock in the rear. my main problem is i dont have a scale set at my disposal. i have a friend whos parents own a few quarrys but i dont think that those scales would give me an accurate weight on the front corners let alone the front end. so does anyone else have any insight on this? im considering going to a truck chp and asking him if he could put my truck on his scales for a minute. wonder if he'll go for it?:dunno:
