Not unless there's something wrong with it. I ran a MSD Blaster II for years on a MAS setup 2.9L, take it in and exchange, but I think the problem is/in the plug to the coil..

Did you only run KOEO? Need to get CM codes, and also do a KOER test.

I dont think it will. I ran a tube type coil off of a 72 f-350 while I was troubleshooting my no-start condition and it didnt throw a code or anything. the coil is pretty much old tech and isnt too integrated to the computer. unless they changed something massively between 1988 and 1990, cause mine is a 1988.

hi pete no i ran both ways it passed both times the problem is the cel will come on while i am driving it will stay on for about 10 min go and that will be it by the time i get home to run the codes its out and passes when tested as always i am to far from home when it comes on so i will keep on trying i might even put the old one back on to see if that is the problem i just wanted some input because the guy at napa said it will probley trip the cel .

Did you change plug wires with the msd coil could be the high output of the coil found a bad spot in one or more of the wires and is causing a misfire

Nope! Nope! Nope!!

Although the performance coils have the capability to fire where the factory coil can't go, they put out the same amount of voltage at the same performance level as the factory coils. So unless you have found a way to get the rpm to 7,000 the performance coil isn't performing more than the factory coil did. SO unless the installer broke the wire at the same time as the new coil install that isn't a probability.

hey dawson the wires are brand new thet are not performance wires just stock ones and big jim i put the coil on i did not break any wires just unpluged and pluged back in but i will check any way thanks for the input .

What is the code that it is throwing??

What do you mean it 'passes'? No codes come out? How are you testing it?
