the 8" long bolt that holds the coil spring on, is that just pushed out or is it threaded in and needs to be unscrewed. the is on an 88 2wd

ok,u may want to clarify on what you are actually trying to accomplish but if you are jsut taking the coil of then there is no need to remove the bolt..just the nut on top that holds the coil spring in .just go in from the side with a wrench and remove the nut.there is another nut under that not if you want to take that bolt off but there is no need unless you are removing your i beam or radius arm.

Yup, its just a 1 1/8 nut inside the coil you need to remove to get the coil out.

i need to remove the entire bolt so i can put a longer one in. I am doing a lift with a spacer (washers) and i do not have enough thread left to put the nut on securly

Ahh I see.

Are you putting an inch of washers in for that inch of lift? You will get more than an inch if you do. I can't remember what the ratio is though. It was something like 1:1.5 or 1:2.5, I'm not too sure.

im hoping to get the most lift with the least amount of money... i dont drive it too hard off-road i just like the look, so the ratio of 1:1.5 is good...does the bolt just drop out.. i had it apart already and it seemed like it was in pretty good. There is also some sort of bolt that is in the radius arm right where the longer coil bolt is does this need to be removed in order to put in a longer bolt??

no if you are only putting a inch of washers on you shouldnt have to put a longer bolt in it should fit.but if it doesnt just get the bolt extenders for the bolt.i would replace that bolt with anything but a bolt that is made for that.

once you get both nuts, the one that holds the coil sping and the one that clamps the radius arms to the beams, the bolt will push out in theroy if you get the radius arms and beam in a netural postion.

you may also have to give it alittle help, 1/2 rattle gun to spin it free. or a hammer and a block of wood to beat it out. all depends on how rusty your stuff is.

thanks all for your input...i finally got the bolts to come out with a few good blows from a mini sledge and some heat from a torch. i replaced the bolts with longer 10"grade 8 bolts...a few washers later i got her sitting right where i want it
