p0171 and p0174 codes.....just changed my engine out...no codes when i water logged the engine...rebuilt it and now i have codes

i read up that p0171 is bank one 2 lean and 174 is bank 2 to lean....bad oxgen sensors?

You say it was waterlogged? Was it the whole truck or just the engine? Carb or fuel Injected? Would think if it was O2 sensors it would throw the code for them. You say waterlogged, I'm wondering if you may have water in the fuel system still.

Both banks are to lean for the computer to adjust so unless both O2 sensors happened to be bad at the same time I would first hook a gauge up to your fuel pressure regulator (FPR). Check it out and if it is to low that could be meaning the regulator is not allowing enough fuel into the rail. Remember to unplug the vacuum line when doing a fuel pressure test.

hmmm it was just the engine...97 ranger efi

maby i have something unplugged...and i will check the fuel pressure

no vacume leaks...and what should the psi be when it is running?

You did not mention if it was rough idleing or if it is hard to start. However you MAY have a stucked IAC in wich case may or MAY NOT sound as if it had a vaccum leak. You see your IAC should stop actuating after you start accelerating. So if it is stuck at a normal idle position it will not idle rough. But it will produce an extra amount of air in the mixture creating a lean condition until about 2500 RPM.
