Hi, i need some help. I have a 90 4x4 4.0 v6. Apon first starts when cold the truck will bog from time to time When shifted into gear or just start moving., Truck has newer injectors, new fuel pump ,New fuel filter, good fuel pressure, New iacv sensor, New tps,Etc.... No active cel but i will get one that is to fast for me to check and will not stay active, i jumped the connector and i got codes in the sequence 2-1-2-4-6-7 Twice then long pause and got a 1-4-1-9-6-1-4-1-9-6, I understand that it should be 3 digits but 212 is a tack erratic code, 467 doesn't show any codes following the code char here along with the next codes, Can Someone lead me in a right direction i am kinda lost. Thanks

Here is a link that explains how to read the trouble codes. When you are doing a key on, engine off code retrieval, you will get codes after the computer looks the system over at that time, and then there will be a pause, and then you will get codes that it picked up from memory. So if the check engine light comes on and goes out when you are driving, then that code will be in memory.

You wrote down what you had. If you get confused, it's sometimes useful to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds, and then reconnect. This will clear everything out. You can then do the code retrieval again, and see what codes the computer spits out right then and there without even turning the engine on. Before you do this you can warm the engine up so you do not get the too cold engine code. Your memory codes should be clear.

You can then drive it for awhile,, and then do the code retrieval again and see if you have any new codes and any memory codes added in.

I wouldn't be surprised if 90 is still 2 digit. What you have makes more sense that way to me. Also the 3 digit system still uses some 2 digit codes. Like 10. And there is a pulse for the number of cylinders at one point.

That does look better with two digits. If you pulled the codes with the engine cold, you can ignore all the temperature codes. Code 14 is a serious code from the distributor(if you have a distributor) and I do not know about code 19, I think I would erase all the codes and see if it comes back. It looks serious also.

P.S. If you have a DIS ignition, code 19 is a cam sensor code.

No distributor on a 4.0. I'd look at the crankshaft position sensor and crankshaft pulley. I'm thinking that sounds kinda like something is loose there. Probably the rubber dried out in the harmonic balancer. If you do need one, they're much cheaper on Ebay than RockAuto.
