Just bought an Actron all-in-one-does-everything type code scanner. Does OBD1 and 2.

Plugged 'er in and ran all the KOEO tests just fine (no codes), but when I went to run the KOER test it says "waiting for cylinder ID" and then fails and doesn't run the test..

Anyone know about this scanner/had this issue?

Thanks!

It was probably trying to run the cylinder contribution test, and failed because the test conditions weren't met.

The cylinder contribution test is basically the misfire test. To run it you have to have the engine fully warmed up, then do the KOER self test. At the end of that test goose the throttle and it should start the cylinder contribution test. I have had that test fail using my Snap-On scanner with all the conditions met, so if the issue persists I would suspect a problem with the truck, not the scanner.

Hmmm, ok thanks for help!

Possibly a bad connection?

I was mostly just trying to test everything out with it, the truck runs good and doesn't really have any issues, 20 mpg highway at 75 mph.

I may not have done the test just right, I'll playin' with it. Live data stream works real well
