Hello all. I'm trying to get my 4X4 Ranger ready for the South Carolina Adventure Route, and she's decided to throw me a curve. I have a mild driving "smoothness" issue, and a code P1300. Thing is, according to my Launch scan tool and various web resources, that code is a proprietary Ford code for boost issues. I have a 2005. No turbos here. Anyone else seen this and know what is going on?

You are correct, that would not be a code on a non-turbo engine or any 1983-2011 Ranger

Does this code turn on CEL(check engine light) while driving?

Maybe code reader glitch
If you have unhooked battery for more than 5 min or reset computer then you will have P1000 until the computer has finished emissions systems testing which can take a few days, but that won't turn on the CEL, it would just be "a code in waiting" until tests are complete

Run by an auto parts store and have them do a code check

Yes, OBDII P1xxx codes are vehicle maker specific, Ford, GM, Audi, Toyota, ect.....each have their own meanings for these codes, so proprietary, as you said
P0xxx codes are generic, agreed on by all vehicle makers to mean the same things

No CEL.
Getting some independent confirmation on what the code reader is telling me is a good idea. Thank you.

You can get a $10 - $15 Bluetooth OBD2 reader, and free APP on your phone or tablet, or $5 APP for more data

These wireless units are also good for watching Live Data while driving

I've got a pretty decent unit, but it looks like it may be off the mark here. As soon as I get a day off, I'll see what the machine at O'Napazone says before I pick up another.
