Good day and God bless. I have a 1990 2.9l ranger. I removed the throttle body and cleaned it. Removed the throttle plate and rod for cleaning. When I put it back on I get a 63 code. What did i do wrong?:icon_hornsup:

Did you take off the TPS and did you put it back on right? Check the voltage to the computer and go from there.

No I did not remove the TPS. I tried checking voltage. Installed jumper on Return between connector and TPS. Checked voltage on TP terminal and other. Voltage read the same on both. I then removed the TPS and pulled Ohm check. Same results ohms changed as movement. Put TPS back on. Light went off, but PRMs out of control. I guess I am an oldschool DA.

One wire should be 5v, that's the ref voltage from the computer. One is ground. The other should range from around .9~4.5 or so, .9 being at idle, and it should sweep smoothly on an analog meter up to the ref voltage, but it's usually slightly less at WOT. Definitely want to check it against the ground on the TPS connector. You can push the lead in along the wire into the back of the plug to get readings.

I remember installing these, when you first align it with the throttle shaft, it didn't exactly line up. Need to go against the spring pressure in the TPS sensor, should be like a 90 degree twist or something like that before it lines back up.

Thanks much for the info. I will try and figure it out. I have both Analog and digital meters. Thinking about going to Pull a Part and getting another throttle body for a reference.

Hate to bother you again. But, is there a mark were the "0" point is when looking at the TPS?
