I would lean towards that the Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensor is faulty...provided that you don't have a cone air filter that is pulling warm engine air in....instead of the factory set up.
well, you don't have a Vane Air Temperature sensor on your 2.9, I would test your ACT sensor against a temp chart such as this one: http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=29 check the resistance across the sensor pins and compare it to the chart. It is best to do this test on a cold engine. with an ambient temp higher than 50* F You will need to know the ambient temp for the result of your test to make any sense. If the sensor tests reasonably close to what it is supposed to then your problem is elsewhere
