code: 1405 egr line plugged or disconnected

symptoms: truck seems anemic, possible fuel milage loss (i dont keep real close track)

any suggestion where to look and what to look for. i can point to the egr valve and thats about all i know about it. looked last night and cant see anything disconnected. would a vacuum leak cause this? any guidance greatly appreciated. thanks.

A bad EGR will effect gas mileage. The line that runs to the EGR will plug up with carbon. You should be able to take the line off the manifold and Egr Valve and clean it out. If you have themeans of soaking it in some carb dip that is what I would recommend. Otherwise go buy some carb cleaner and douse it with that. Let it sit for a while and eat and then dump it out of the tube. Do this until the tube is clear. Use a piece of wire when doing it. How many miles and how long has the CEL been on? If it's been on for a while it may be caked in there pretty good.

truck has 197k, engine light came on yesterday. i noticed it was being a little sluggish on the way home from having a buddy run the number. i do have some carb cleaner. i will post results. thanks for the help.
