I was wondering if all rangers had the hydrologic clutch or of some has the cable type clutch. If they came with both what years had what type of clutch?

All Rangers have Hydraulic clutches.

Cable clutches have nasty issue of their own.

Not really that weird. The Mustang as a model pre-dates the Ranger by decades. The Mustang had the cable clutch in place for a long time before the Ranger ever hit the drawing board. They weren't upgraded to hydraulic until the generation re-design (yes I know, not a big difference visually, but the transmissions changed) in 89.

What nasty issues are you referring to? Is it the binding issues due to the cable?

I would have to double check to be sure, but I swear my '99 Cobra has a mechanical (cable) clutch. I can't remember ever seeing a hydraulic reservoir/cyliner for it.

99 Cobras DO have clutch cables. 100% positive.

Not all Mustangs came with hydraulic clutches. They were an option, and many in fact continued to come with cable clutches through the 90s.

The newer Mustangs have a shared reservoir for the clutch and brake master.
