sorry guys i know this probably isnt the right forum but i posted before with no replys in the transmission forum.
anyways my clutch squeaks (truck in sig, 118k not sure if clutch has ever been replaced)when starting out from a stop my other 98 did the same thing. it doesnt seem to be slipping but while i am letting the clutch out it makes a squeaking noise as it slips to get going. is this normal? any ideas?any info would be appreciated. thanks guys!!!

its not normal that i have heard of, i dont know if it is bad or not though. is there any sign of anythign leaking? is it a squeak like a belt would squeak or is it more of a chatter or grinding??

no signs of anything leaking, sounds kind of like a belt would i guess. the it sounds like if the clutch plates just squeaked as they rubbed together. it doesnt do it when the clutch is engaged just when starting out. thanks guys! i will check into the throw out bearing.

Hey, I'm have a 99 with a 5spd and its doing the same thing, jus as I'm easing the clutch out to get going, my dads friend who used to be a mechanic said its the throwout bearing, which means pulling the transmission to get to it, I think right?

You dont have to pull it per say, you can unbolt it and slide it back, with the driveshafts disconnected and it on a jack of course!, then you reach up in there and pull the throwout bearing, kind of a PITA with lack of room and if you haven't done it before

It is easier with pulling it though, yes.

seriously look into replacing the clutch and flywheel if needed when/if you pull the transmission out. at the least have it inspected by a shop before you put it back together. pulling a transmission isent the kinda thing you want to do more than once every few years because it can be a real PITA.

mine does it if i haven't driven it in a week or so,goes away after a minute and does't come back until it sits for awhile.thro-out bearing is my guess, also noisy when pedal depressed.already planned on throwing a clutch kit, slave and maybe flywheel in this summer.never ends does it?

Mine sounded just like that, I first thought it was the throwout bearing. I figured while I had the tranny removed I would just do everything(throwout, slave, clutch, resurface flywheel, pilot, and rear main). I'm glad I did because it was the pilot bearing. The throw out was also starting to go. If it's the pilot, you want to get it fixed real soon so you don't mess up the input shaft on the tranny.
