Hello all and thanks for the info here. Glad I found this site as my clutch just went. 1993 Ford Ranger Splash,3.0 V6 ,5 spd.,aftermarket a/c, 150k, new water pump last month and for the last couple weeks the clutch pedal has gotten progressively more spongy with the pedal needing to go all the way to the floor to shift. Now I can't shift at all in 1st and 2nd but easier in 3-5th. I drove it to the parts store for the last time yesterday, checked the master cylinder and it was only a few ounces low and have never noticed any leakage. So does this sound like a clutch, slave, mc or all the above problem? I've read several posts here and am not sure but I'll buy them all just to be sure. I worked on/replaced parts on countless cars over the years so I'm OK with most of it (jinx).Thankfully it's a long weekend and my new job starts Tues. morn. so I got's to do it now. Thanks for any help. YLR.

Sounds like a classic bad slave.

Your plan is sound. You'll need a friend and the quick disconnect release tool. Pick up the clutch alignment tool ($3), brake fluid, ATF and replace that rear seal (another whopping $3).

Good luck.

I'd gravity bleed the new MC and slave before you install them. Both times I lucked out and the QD worked perfectly, didn't have to bleed at all after assembly.

Clutch/slave

Thank's Earl43P for the quick reply and advice. The truck has been so reliable I never noticed that there wasn't a clutch cable. HAHA, thought it must be there somewhere but, surprise!! I have the Haynes manual and am not oppossed to getting something more in-depth.Is this necessary? Thanks again, YLR.
