Clutch replacement for an 85 ranger

So I officially bought the truck today, I'm going to be getting it tomorrow and I'll also be getting the clutch kit tomorrow and all of the other parts. I'm facing a dilemma though, I know how to do the swap myself, but I've never physically done one so I wanted my buddy to help me. However his dad is being a stickler and won't allow him to help unless I go hangout at their house, which is something I'd really rather not deal with. (We're both still under 18, so we have to deal with our parents still) so my question is, is it worth it to deal with them and let me buddy help me, or should I take it on by myself? I'll also have military trained mechanics that'll be able to help me if I need it, as I'll be doing it on base here in anchorage Alaska

Personally after been there done that BS, I'd let my military buddies help me if I need help rather than relying on some friend with family problems letting your friend out of his home once in a while to live in reality. Yep don't bother with him.

Thanks for the advice, I stuck to doing it just by myself and got it done within a reasonable amount of time. If 14 hours is considered reasonable, waiting for the lift to be available and the fact that I needed to go get a replacement flywheel and starter didn't help either though. All in all it runs and drives again, it's got a ways to go but that was the big part.
