Hello,

2001 ford ranger 2.3 liter 133k miles. Ihad mast clutch and slave cylinder all done within past year. 2 mechanics bled vacuum, manually , gravity and saw no air. They checked master and slave for no leakage. It feels like tehre is air in clucth as I have to pump it to engage. When I first has master put in 6 weeks ago, it was fine for about 2 weeks thn it got cold and I lost pedal.

I pump it and it holds for about 15 minutes then begines to fade.

Does this sound like I need a clutch kit? If so, any suggestions on best one to get and how many hour sof labor I am looking at?

thanks in advance

I don't think there is a Master cylinder for the Clutch...? Thats for brakes. There is a resivore in the engine bay on the firewall and drivers fender and an internal slave cylinder... If it holds and or needs pumped to engage it sounds like you have air in the system or possibly the wrong fluid in it? A Clutch is worn no amount of pumping would let it engage, it should act the same.

There actually is a clutch master cylinder. The master cylinder is the part the clutch pushes the plunger into, the part the fluid resivour is attached to.

If it has been bleed, make sure that the shop put in a new slave cylinder as well. If they didn't, then more than likely that is your problem. If they did, replace the master cylinder.
