clutch problems

Hi Guys: I'm new here,but I've read and spent time here for quite a while. I
have a problem. My 1991 Ranger just had a clutch and a clutch master installed. Now again I have no clutch and have fluid dripping out of the bellhousing. I'm quessing its fluid from the slave cylinder. My question is this could it be where the new line from the master cylinder or is it a blowed slave cylinder??? I need some input before I have no hair left on my bald head!!!:dunno:
 
Could be either, and either way the transmission has to be removed to repair it. Hopefully it would be covered under some sort of warranty from whoever fixed it?
 
Chances are its a blown slave cylinder. On the Rangers, its a good idea to replace every part in the bellhousing when it comes to a clutch. I have all the parts I need sitting in my closest for the day that I'll need to do mine.
 
If it isn't the slave cylinder, you can try disconnecting the (so-called) quick disconnector that goes into the side of the transmission (actually into the slave cylinder). If it appears to be loose the fluid may be dripping from there and reseating it might get you a proper seal.

The only problem with that is they are not usually "quick" and you may have to use two screwdrivers to push back the plastic ring. The way they are designed it is supposed to slip back sorta like an air-hose connector...and needs a special tool to do that...but using two screw drivers worked for me and that is even recommended in my manual if you don't have the tool.

So, the first thing is to check to see if the connector looks like it is sitting properly in the socket...maybe just give it a push and you should hear a click if it wasn't seated right...

Else...you're gonna have to remove it anyways for the new slave cylinder...hope that's not the case...
 
Thanks guys: I crawled under the truck today and tried to push in on the
hose and it didn't do anything. The fluid is running from inside the bellhousing.
When I tried to bleed the system, with the clutch pedal pushed down it would
run like a seeve out from the bellhousing without the bleeder being loose.
Oh well I quess i"ll start tearing the truck apart!!!:annoyed:

You're going to see sticker shock, check out the prices for a new one, they are BLOODY outrageous!
 
sounds like the slave cylinder is broken then...but if you didn't remove the fitting then it might be one last thing you can do...when you remove the fitting you should NOT be able to depress the clutch pedal...or it will be very stiff...that indicates the seal on the end of the hose is working properly...when you reconnect the hose and depress the clutch if you have the same problem then...unfortunately...
