1989 BII with a swap in 4.0 and M5OD. new clutch and slave when swap was done coupl;e years ago. Problem I am having is every now and then when the clutch is depressed it will feel funny and slow to return. At that point I have no clutch. Wont shift out of gear or into gear. Seems to do it when cold out(below freezing). Could it be th master or slave cylinder? I have bled the system and that doesnt seem to help. I can refilll the resavoir and pump the clutch and it will come back. Not seeing and fluid coming out of the master.

the master could be leaking internally, thats my guess.

pump it up and hold it to the floor, if it bleeds off and you lose the clutch. check for leaks again and check the firewall and your clutch pedal for brake fluid leaks. if yuo find not leaks then its the master.

just past the primary seal. imagine pushing a pile of sand with your hand flat. some of it slips past your hand.
