Clutch position sensor JUMPER

Hello,

I am using the clutch position sensor jumper full time, will that impose a 3kRPM cut off?

Not sure what you are working on. I put a jumper in my 86, and it did mess up some things. On my 86 besides the interlock for the starter, it had another side to the switch that went to the computer and also the electric shift. It was in series with the transmission neutral switch. If the tranny was in neutral or the clutch was pushed in, the computer recognized this and went to a different idle strategy.

I found it also messed up the electric transfer case shifting. If the tranny switch doesn't say it's in neutral, and the clutch doesn't say it's pushed in, the electronic box for the transfer case will not shift into low range.

87 Ranger, 2.9L, 5 speed with manual transfer case.

I am planning on using the clutch position "jumper" on a manual switch, to be used at startup, instead of full-time.

Not sure what your reason is, but if I remember right there are two sides to the switch. The red/lightblue wires are the interlock for the starter. The other wires will be the computer wires.

Yes, 3 switches are inside the clutch pedal switch, only 1 switch is used for starter motor activation

You can jumper the two red/blue stripe wires(on this switch) together and leave the other wires alone, so no issues with other systems as long as you plug the connector back in to the switch

You can use another switch between the red/blue wires, a hidden "no start" switch or remote start switch, but key would have to be turned to START to use "remote" start switch

Ignition switch in START(12volt)------------(red/blue wire)---------clutch switch-------(red/blue wire)-------starter relay

So its just those 2 wires you need to work with, won't effect anything else
