So i took the ranger to a shop to do the new clutch and master cylinder. They said somehow the peice that attaches to the firewall had been somehow shoved through into the engine compartment. causing numerous parts to wear out. Anyone ever heard of this happening????

The mechanic also told me its really common in the f150's and that there is even a kit/part you can buy to remedy the problem. Unfortunatly for me they dont make one for rangers. So it will cost me another 4-5 hours in labor charges. F*#@!:temper:

Nothing new. I had it happen on my old ranger.

I suppose it was a 91?? Mine was. Will also had the same problem.

I just welded the crack and it was good to go. It was so bad that I couldn't start the truck because of the clutch interlock.

yeah, well I will tell you what. Im definately going to invest in a decent welder and some tools so I can Fab up my own stuff and fix the ranger when things go wrong. :icon_welder:

I had the exact problem in an '89 F-150, welded her up and then it broke. I ended up putting a 2x4 between the firewall and the radiator support to keep the firewall from bending out, lol

yikes lol looks like your ahead of me....i dont have the cash at the moment to fix my clutch.....i need a job lol

Yeah well I got it back today and what a world of difference it makes. Had em put in a luk's clutch kit new master and fix the firewall. Better file my taxes now so I can pay back the money I borrowed.

Same thing on my original 88...decided to replace the whole cab because the base of the door posts were rotted out too...ended up just going with an extended cab and transplanted my 2.3 engine/tranny...should be ready soon...

Oh, yes, and I spent about (aboot) $1200 sandblasting the frame and undercarriage of the 'new' truck to try to prevent that from happening again...at least in the very near future...

"Too bad she won't last"...line from "Blade Runner" about the android Rachel...
